Following Muhammad Abu Bakar’s graduation in 2012 he worked as an administrator in a private hospital for two years. In 2015, he enrolled in a Master of Science programme in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. During his MSc he was awarded a postgraduate merit scholarship. Muhammad’s research focused on identifying the direct and indirect determinants of malaria morbidity in poorer households and at an individual level in Rwanda in 2010, using Malaria Indicator Survey (MIS) data from the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) website.
After completing his MSc he joined the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore, Pakistan, as an Epidemiologist and Biostatistician where he collaborated on research projects with medical professionals from various specialties, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, gastroenterology, surgical oncology, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health professions. Muhammad conducted extensive data analyses for publications and contributed to 50 PubMed-indexed, peer-reviewed publications.
