Complications of Obesity

Obesity can affect the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents in a number of ways. Adipose tissue is essential for health and growth however, sometimes it can be stored in areas of the body where is it not typically stored (ectopic storage). If adipose tissue levels are high it can have an impact on the way that cells, organs and systems work. The ORCG uses the WHO ICF to explore how obesity affects health, function and participation in children and adolescents. Please see relevant projects below for further detail.
